Did you ever search a torchlight app and only at the fifth try to install a found app you picked one without network access or permission to modify your USB-storage? Or found a promising game, only to realize in the last moment it wants to read your contacts?

If you find this disappointing, “SaferPlay” is your app. Distinguish at first glimpse which apps are trustworthy from those you should stay away from.

Google Play Store shows an app's permissions not until installation - and even than it hides various permissions (like internet access).

Search for apps with “SaferPlay” and if you found a trustworthy app install it as usual with Google Play Store.

“SaferPlay” displays apps in three distinguished groups: “Trusted Apps”, “Trusted Apps with Internet Access”, and “Suspicious & untrusted Apps”. To classify apps we not only use Google's risk levels but selected suspicious combinations of permissions (like network access combined with right to read contacts or modify your USB-storage).

Furthermore we show how many apps need specific permissions and allow you to select permissions to be ignored for calculating the risk level. When it is highly suspicious for a game to access your camera or microphone, it's perfectly okay for a camera app, which should not be classified as suspicious.

Decide what your apps have access to – and particulary: what not!

We want to lead by example: Our app only need access to the internet to find your apps and fetch the requested permissions. Nothing more.

Do not use apps with permissions you don't know what they are for or you don't need. Help us make the Play Store a more safe place to be.

This app is work in progress. We try hard to make it better. It's not perfect right now, but we think it's already good enough to give you a valuable tool.
