Meet Up, Speak Up

Встретьтесь, Speak Up это приложение чат со встроенным в переводе.

This app is my final project for General Assembly's Android Development Immersive. I initially started planning to make a basic translator, but I ended up adding a social aspect to it by creating a chat app.

How to use:

Fiirst login with your Google account. You will be presented with three tabs; Chat Invites, Public Chat, and Private Chat.

Chat invites list the chats you have been invited to by other users. To join the chat, simply click on the one you want to join.

Public Chat allows you to join public language chat rooms.

Private Chat allows you to create your own private chat room.

In both public and private chat rooms, you can invite a user simply by clicking on the menu on the top right and "Invite to Chat". You can manually enter a username or select one from the "Recent Users" list.

To translate the message you are sending, first make sure you have selected a language "I want to speak". If you have not selected one, it will default to English. Once you have that selected, type in your text and then long click the send button. The app will translate your text and you can then send it.

To translate the messages you are reading, first make sure you have a language "I speak". If you have not selected one, it will default to English. Once you have selected, simply click on the chat bubble and it will translate the text so that you can read it.
