The RICS Leasa App is designed to help Australian commercial office tenants save money by choosing and managing energy efficient space.

For most small and medium businesses the process of finding suitable space to lease, including deciding whether to stay in an existing premises, can appear extremely complex. There are a range of costs, benefits, obligations and choices to understand.

Using the BEEC database, the RICS Leasa App helps time poor SME commercial office tenants in Australia to:

- compare and rank different space for lease

- search the BEEC database

- compare which buildings and tenancies are energy efficient

- calculate and compare the occupancy costs of tenancies

- calculate and compare tenancy energy costs

- calculate and compare tenancy lighting costs

- track tenancy energy bills

- calculate the energy costs of office equipment

- calculate how changes in the size of space, operating hours or lighting efficiency affect costs

The App includes a Guide that helps Australian commercial office tenants to:

- understanding the leasing process and where to find the best independent advice

- decide whether to stay in an existing space or move

- prioritise key features of different space to lease

- understand what to look for when visiting tenancies

- conduct negotiations with an existing building owner

- make informed decisions about different tenancies

- understand total occupancy costs

- be clear why energy efficiency is important for tenants

- choose an energy efficient tenancy

- manage and improve energy efficiency in a tenancy

- measure and reduce carbon foot printing in tenancies
