Diggle is an SMS app with cutting edge emotion analysis made fun and easy!

You can tell a lot about how people are feeling and what they are thinking by how they express themselves. Gain insight into how your contacts really feel. Analyse your relationship with others. Make inferences about the topics you talk about and more!

Diggle sits alongside your native sms app which means you can use either app to send and receive messages.

[Backstory]

Diggle is a little robot who wants to be human. (aww). He is trying to learn emotions through looking at text messages and sms. Diggle doesn’t always get it right but he wants to improve and with your help this is possible!

[Features]

Analyse Conversation - Diggle will comment on the relationship between you and the text message sender. ‘Analyse last 20 Msgs’ does just that – it looks only at the last 20 text messages rather than the whole conversation.

Word Clouds - The Word Cloud feature easily helps you to see what topics have been discussed by the sms sender. This feature will be extended in future versions of Diggle.

Message Statistics - Diggle SMS lets you find out who sent you the most messages and who you have sent the most to. This feature will be extended in future versions of Diggle SMS.

So what do the Diggle colours mean:

Red sms - Angry and fired up about something

Blue sms - Sad or down about something

Yellow sms - Worried or anxious about something

Green sms - Happy about something

White sms - Neutral and no feelings either way

Fuchsia sms - Tender or affectionate about something

Orange sms - Excited and upbeat about something

How to give feedback, to help us improve Diggle sms messenger:

1) Press and hold a particular message.

2) Select ‘Give feedback’ from the menu.

3) Select the Emotion you feel is the correct one.

4) Done. Thank you. This will help to improve how Diggle works.

WE DO NOT collect or read your messages or any other data on your phone. If you send Diggle feedback for a particular message, it will be analysed electronically and it is this analysis that we will use to help improve Diggle analysis in the future. Unlike many applications, we do not pass on or sell your information to third parties or make a profit from your personal information.

[Explanation of Permissions]

Here is an explanation of why permission is required and we promise we do not use these permissions for anything other than the following:

Read SMS – So Diggle can tell you what emotion this text message has.

Read Contacts – So Diggle can show you which sms text messages belong to whom.

Receive SMS / Write SMS – So Diggle can handle an incoming message correctly.

Send SMS – So Diggle can function as an SMS app.

Internet / Access Network State – So you can send feedback to Diggle to improve the sms app.

Read Phone State – So we can assign an ID when you choose to send us feedback. This really helps build the models Diggle uses for its sms text analysis.

[Known Issues]

Some android mobile phones have different settings for their SMS and message storage. We tested as much as was feasible for out small development team but there could be other devices this may not work on. We will endeavour to fix and update these in the future.
