Repeat in Shadows

Whether you wish to use this for language learning, practicing lyrics to a song, or re-listen to a lecture from class, this app is for you!

This audio player features the ability to automatically break up audio (including audio from videos) into phrases for "shadowing" (also sometimes referred to as "mimicking" or "chorusing"). Shadowing is a language learning technique aimed at boosting fluency by improving listening, accent, pronunciation, intonation, stress, rhythm, and pitch through focused repetition of short phrases or words, with the goal being to eventually be able to perfectly imitate the reference audio.

The app automatically splits the audio track into phrases, but with the phrase editing tool, phrases can be adjusted as necessary for your needs, whether that's a whole sentence or just a single word. If you don't have audio readily available on your device to shadow, the recorder can record from either your microphone, or on Android 10 (Q) and later, from apps playing on the device (some apps may disable this functionality). Use the app out on the field to capture real native speech or from media you already consume on your device.

5 playback modes supported (all can be played on infinite repeat):

Normal mode - play a single phrase

Full audio - play the whole audio file uninterrupted

All phrases - play the whole audio skipping sections between phrases

Fixed repeats of a single phrase - play a single phrase a fixed number of times (customizable with Pro)

Repeat phrases a fixed number of times - Play all phrases, but repeat each phrase a certain number of times before moving onto the next one (customizable with Pro)

* Unlimited recording length (30 second limit per recording in Free)

* Customizable playback speed (50%, 100%, or 150% only in Free)

* Customizable number of repeats

* All playback modes for all audio (In Free, files greater than 2 minutes only support normal mode)
