Regreening App

The Regreening App is a free citizen science Android application designed and developed by World Agroforestry (ICRAF) to help users collect data on restoration initiatives taking place on farms and in rangelands.

This application was initially developed under the Regreening Africa project, which aims to reverse land degradation in Africa by scaling up evergreen agriculture across several African countries. Later versions have been supported by projects such as UK PACT Nature-Based Solutions for Kenya, Restore4More, and Knowledge for Great Green Wall Action (K4GGWA).

The app has five modules focusing on tree planting, Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), nursery establishment, rangeland restoration, and engagement. The Regreening App user guide is available in the Resources section of the DRS: https://radrs.icraf.org. The DRS also hosts a discussion forum for questions, answers, and suggestions. The application development is guided by the following objectives:

1. Enable registered app users to register their projects for data collection. More details are available at https://radrs.icraf.org. See the section "Add Your Projects".

2. Facilitate project-level data collection, visualization, and KPI reporting, including indicators such as:

-> Total number of households implementing land restoration

-> Total number of hectares under restoration

-> Biodiversity on farms

-> Tree species survival rates

-> Management and usage practices

3. Support near-real-time (NRT) project monitoring by project data managers through the Data Reporting System (DRS). More details are available at https://radrs.icraf.org. See the section "PM Dashboard".
