ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE API USAGE

PostReader uses the Android AccessibilityService API to provide its core

text-to-speech functionality. Here is exactly how and why the Accessibility

Service is used:

• What it does: When you tap the Play button on the floating overlay,

PostReader uses the AccessibilityService API to read the text currently

visible on your screen. It then converts that text into speech using

on-device text-to-speech processing, and highlights each sentence as it

is read aloud.

• When it activates: The AccessibilityService only reads your screen when

you explicitly tap the Play button. It does not run in the background,

does not monitor your activity, and does not read your screen at any

other time.

• What data is accessed: PostReader accesses only the text content visible

on your screen at the moment you tap Play. This includes text from any

app that is currently displayed (such as Reddit posts, articles, or

messages).

• No data is collected, stored, or shared: All text-to-speech processing

happens entirely on your device. PostReader does not record, store,

transmit, or share your screen content, personal data, or any

information obtained through the AccessibilityService. Nothing is ever

sent to any server.

• No other use: PostReader does not use the AccessibilityService to change

user settings, interact with other apps on your behalf, work around

privacy controls, record calls, or perform any action other than reading

visible text aloud when you tap Play.
