The poet, playwright and translator Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav is considered one of the most important representatives of Slovak literary realism. He created natural and social poetry, which he composed into thematic cycles. He was inspired by the lives of the people and their problems in creating epic poetry.
The Bard of Slovak Literature Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav died in Dolný Kubín on November 8, 1921 in a house located in the square opposite the Čaplovič Library building. After the death of Ilona Országh's widow in 1932, the estate was placed in the library building and placed in several display cases.
