This mobile app has been designed to support Indigenous communities by helping local Health Directors collect meaningful data related to COVID-19. The app contains information about, and access to, an embedded questionnaire that participants can take to provide information about how COVID-19 is affecting their personal lives and communities. The questions focus on impacts from COVID-19, but they also highlight the many proactive and positive actions taken by communities to ensure their health and wellbeing. Participants will have the option to share their insights and experiences in their own words using video, audio and in writing.
In addition to the questionnaire, the app also provides access to cultural content produced by COVID-19 Indigenous staff, in the form of videos, pictures, and infographics.
The in-app consent form, as well as the privacy policy, can provide details on how questionnaire data is collected and used.
Some Indigenous communities have limited access to the Internet, the app is designed to work well offline. In the event that a questionnaire has been submitted while offline, the app will wait until the device is online to prompt the user to upload the results. Also, all media content, once downloaded, can play while the device is offline.
Anyone wanting to find out more information about the initiative or wanting to complete the surveys or to participate in other ways is welcome. Please feel free to contact Evan Chamakese, the Communications Coordinator on our project, at evan@covid19indigenous.ca.
To get full access to the app, please talk to your Local Health Director about having your community become part of the Digital Health Initiative.
