The term was coined in 1895 by John Scheeland popularized by Benedict Lust, the "father of U.S. naturopathy”. Naturopathy or naturopathic medicine is employing a wide array of "natural" treatments, including herbalism, and acupuncture, as well as diet and lifestyle counseling.

Music therapy is the use of interventionsto accomplish individual goals within a therapeutic relationship by a professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
