Wikipedia® has great images which this app presents for your selection. Like the official Wikipedia® client, it knows where you are, has maps, text search and shows articles in full. Unlike the official client, it puts the Wikipedia® images up front using Augmented Reality (AR) and image galleries.
With Augmented Reality, just point your device around you and article thumbnails appear in the camera view. Of course, your device needs a forward facing camera, a compass and an accelerometer to do this AR stuff.
Finding articles in places you plan to visit easy too as the app has both place name and map zoom in search. Once selected, articles are displayed as you would expect to see them on a browser including working links.
This app uses official Wikimedia read only interfaces but it is not in any way endorsed by Wikipedia® or the Wikimedia Foundation. It works best with Google play location services but can manage without them.
A picture is worth a thousand words and this app draws you in like the very best Augmented Reality games - and its all real!
