Pennine Care's Puffin educational app supports young people with asthma
Puffin is an educational tool that supports children with asthma within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust's services. Using both this app and the Puffin website, it forms part of the care pathway and provides accessible asthma education.
Our aims of Puffin are to: improve asthma education, support young people to self-care and stay healthy encourage better disease management.
Puffin supports the care journey and includes: educational videos and booklets; quizzes to test young people's knowledge; trackers and tools for asthma attacks; sharing of stories and ideas; and materials, support and links to further information.
Puffin has been developed by asthma nurse specialists and young people with the condition at all stages of the journey – including naming the project; the design, artwork and feel; and the topics of education.
Puffin is currently only available to young people who are under the care of Pennine Care's asthma services or those registered with GP practices who are participating in the project.
