Wuthering Waves is an open world action RPG that combines fast combat with free exploration in a story rich, post apocalyptic setting.
The Wuthering Waves 2.8 update adds two highly anticipated characters, refreshed banners, and a variety of exciting in-game additions. This new patch, named "To the City Set in Amber," launches globally after scheduled maintenance and brings new story elements, gameplay improvements, and quality-of-life features for all players.
Release Date and Maintenance Times
Wuthering Waves 2.8 goes live on November 19, 2025, for American time zones, with the official release across all regions following a seven-hour maintenance. Asian players will see the update in the morning or midday on November 20, 2025. The update is scheduled to run until December 24, 2025. Players are also awarded 300 Astrite as compensation for the server downtime during maintenance.

Phase 1 (Nov 19 ~ Dec 11)
A 5-star Havoc-Broadblade Resonator with a strong offensive focus. Designed as a core support character for Negative Status teams, she provides healing, damage boosts, defense reduction, and crowd control through her abilities.

Her signature weapon "Kumokiri" further balances offensive and supportive capabilities, making her a versatile pick for a variety of team strategies.

Phase 2 (Dec 11 ~ Dec 24)
A 4-star Electro-Rectifier Resonator. However, players must wait until Phase 2 for Buling’s banner.
Buling is a newly introduced 4-star Electro Resonator in Wuthering Waves version 2.8, arriving as part of the game's latest update. She is characterized as a healer and supporter with a focus on team damage boosts and Electro buffs.

Buling excels in supporting team sustain through her healing capabilities, particularly with her Passive skills that restore HP during combat. Her unique ability, Yin-Yang Balance, switches her into a more aggressive "Flash of Thunder" mode, unleashing powerful Thunder Spell effects that significantly strengthen her damage output after entering this state.

The first banner phase features both Chisa and Phoebe, alongside their associated 4-star Resonators. Phase two will introduce rerun banners for Phrolova and Cantarella. Alongside Chisa, her signature weapon, Kumokiri, will appear in a special weapon banner during Phase 1. Additional rewards, including daily log-in bonuses and the opportunity to earn Lustrous and Radiant Tides, are part of the "Gifts of Amber" event.

New Area: Chronorift Metropolis
Version 2.8 unveils Chronorift Metropolis, set in Honami City—a sprawling city reminiscent of Tokyo. This new area is the centerpiece of fresh quests, exploration, and events, including "Stranger Things in Honami," which allows players to manage and upgrade the Shashou Cafe.
Events and Skins
Players can participate in rerun events and photo missions for Astrite, plus lottery campaigns and character trial challenges. Zani receives a new skin, "Downtown Repose," as part of the update.
