Code: To Jin Yong, a title that is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, and today we have seen its first trailer; the video combines cinematic scenes with others that seem to be taken from its gameplay, although we are constantly reminded that it is a version in development whose final quality could vary.
Tencent has presented a first demo trailer with gameplay of its first AAA project outside the mobile market, a new video game based on Unreal Engine 5 that aims to rival the best of future Asian projects for PC and consoles. This is Code: To Jin Yong, an open world action RPG set in Chinese mythology and of which we already have a first glimpse through this impressive trailer that you can see above these lines.
In the trailer, available below these lines, you can see a tense confrontation between two skilled warriors who perfectly control the techniques of Chinese martial arts: exaggerated movements, supernatural powers, jumps that defy the laws of gravity .... Do these characteristics ring any bells? Indeed, Code: To Jin Yong is inspired by the wuxia genre, a literary style that became popular with its arrival in the cinema, leaving us with such well-known films as The House of Flying Daggers.
Jin Yong, who gives the name to the game, is a famous writer of the wuxia genre. That is why this project is set in the universe created in his stories, which basically could be defined as chivalry novels with martial arts. This adaptation of classic Chinese literature to the videogame reminds us of other projects such as Black Myth: Wu Kong, another surprising project that adapts the famous legend Journey to the West.
In addition to the powerful action sequence that those responsible for Code: To Jin Yong let us see in this first trailer, the official description of the project mentions another important detail: it will be an open world game. Thus we can expect a work that combines moments of free exploration with contained confrontations in which the frenetic martial arts combine with the spectacular graphics provided by its supernatural approach.
Code: To Jin Yong has no confirmed release date or platforms, although the company that develops it, Lightspeed Studios, is responsible for mobile adaptations such as PUBG Mobile or Apex Legends Mobile.
