About Breast Cancer Society of Canada (BCSC)

BCSC is a registered, national non-profit charity dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer research. Established in 1991 by the Greenaway and Kohlmeier families in memory of Pam who died of breast cancer at 38 years old. We raise money to fund patient-focused research based on four divisions; screening and detection, precision oncology, treatment, and Patient-Reported Outcomes.

History of BCSC’s Mother’s Day Walk

The first Mother's Day Walk was held on Sunday, May 12th 1991. That day, Pam walked alongside her family and friends to raise funds for breast cancer research. Sadly, Pam passed away the following March, making that first Mother's Day walk the only event she would attend. Determined more than ever by their passion to end this disease, her family and friends have continued to devote themselves to her legacy.
