Visually impaired people face different kinds of difficulties in their lives like identifying objects, reading texts from reading materials, recognizing the currency of money, and many more. These might seem like small issues to us because we take these simple things for granted. That being said, there are around 314 million people who are experiencing these challenges around the world (WHO, 2015).

Minerva is a mobile app that recognizes different objects, actions, and sceneries; it detects the currency of different paper bills; identifies the dominant and the accent colors of different objects; reads texts from reading materials like receipts, newspapers, magazines, and books; recognizes facial expressions and predicts a person’s age and gender; tells you the exact date and weather in your current location; and decodes barcodes and tells you the labels of products.

The app is available in more than 30 languages.
