No internet. No cell signal. Still connected.
MeshChat lets you message nearby Android phones without an internet connection, a SIM card or a server. Messages travel phone to phone over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. Every phone running the app becomes part of the network and passes messages on to the next device, so your message can reach people you are not directly connected to.
HOW IT WORKS
• Open the app and start the mesh. Nearby MeshChat users are found automatically.
• Your message hops through phones in between until it reaches its destination (multi-hop relay).
• Messages that cannot be delivered right away are queued and retried when a connection appears.
• The app keeps running in the background and notifies you of new messages and emergency broadcasts.
FEATURES
• Messaging without internet or cell service: Bluetooth, BLE and Wi-Fi Direct
• Public channel: send open messages to everyone around you
• Private messages: end-to-end encrypted chat with directly connected peers (ECDH key exchange, AES-256-GCM, forward secrecy)
• Signed packets: every message is digitally signed by its sender
• Delivery status: see whether a message is pending, delivered or failed
• Battery-aware scanning: scan frequency adapts to battery level and app usage
• No account, phone number or sign-up
• English and Turkish interface
PREMIUM (one-time purchase)
• Emergency broadcast, with optional GPS location, clearly marked for receivers
• Image sharing
• Change your display name
• No ads
WHEN IT HELPS
• When mobile networks and internet are down, such as after an earthquake, flood or power outage
• Camping, hiking and remote areas
• Crowded events, concerts and festivals
• In airplane mode or abroad, without using mobile data
GOOD TO KNOW
• MeshChat does not replace emergency services such as 112 or 911.
• Range depends on the device, environment and obstacles. Delivery is not guaranteed.
• To reach farther, phones in between must also have MeshChat running.
• Continuous scanning can increase battery use.
• Public channel messages are visible to everyone nearby; use private messages for personal information.
• Showing a location on the map requires downloading map data; messaging itself works without internet.
Stay in touch with the people around you, even when the internet is gone.
