About Matvaretabellen næringsinnhold

English

Search quickly and easily up the nutritional content of more than 1000 Norwegian foods and drinks.

The food table provides an overall overview of the content of energy and nutrients for the most common foods we eat in Norway.

The Food Table 2014 contains 1469 foods and values for 36 nutrients. The food content of energy and nutrients is measured in the state they usually find in the store, but the table also provides nutritional content for a selection of prepared foods and dishes. All table values refer to the content of 100 g of edible goods, that is, the nutritional content after the removal of skins, shells, bones, cores or anything that is not normally eaten. The food table needs to be constantly updated as new foods are launched every year at the same time as ingredients and production methods are changed in foods.

Rarely are errors detected in the Food Table that must be corrected before a new annual update. If this happens, there will be a link to a spreadsheet listing the changes.

The nutrient values in the Food Table come from:

Chemical analyzes performed in quality-assured Norwegian laboratories

Borrowed values obtained from industry or foreign food tables

Estimated values calculated on the basis of similar foods and dishes

The reference to the nutrient values of a food is always given in the Food Table.

What is the Food Table used for?

The food table forms the basis for calculating the intake of various nutrients for individuals and groups of the population. It is therefore an important reference tool and tool in food management and nutrition policy, in teaching and information work, and for health professionals and researchers. The table is also used by the food industry as a basis for product declarations and for food production.

The official Norwegian food table is co-financed by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Directorate of Health. The practical work is carried out by professionals at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Department of Nutrition Science, University of Oslo.
