-- How It Works --
You can submit two locations as part of your MapAlerter account (typically Home and Work) and from here the App will know which alerts you should receive. When a Council issues an alert they must define an alert boundary. If either of your map points is within this boundary then you will receive an alert.
-- Alert Categories --
This award-winning service* is used by a number of Irish Councils to issue alerts for a variety of service categories. You can subscribe to all categories or just some of them, depending on your preference. For example, you may not wish to receive Flood Alerts if you live on a hill! The complete list of MapAlerter categories is as follows:
-- Water Service Alerts
-- Road Closures & Diversion Alerts
-- Community Alerts & Notices
-- Flood Alerts
-- Severe Weather Warnings
-- Planning Application Activity
** Check on MapAlerter.com to see what categories are used by your Council. In some cases a Council may only alert for some of these categories.
-- ** NEW Augmented Reality Planning Viewer --
You can now use MapAlerter to visualize planning applications recently submitted. All you need to do is point your iOS device in front of a building or site and check if any recent planning activity exists. This is a great way to learn about your built environment and is a quick way to link back to your Council's website to view full planning application details (including scanned drawings in many cases). View local authority planning information like never before! Just remember that the accuracy of the planning data on the augmented viewer is fully dependent on the quality of your Android's compass and GPS location.
-- Councils using MapAlerter --
MapAlerter is currently used by a growing number of Irish Councils to power their corporate communications strategy, with more hopefully coming on board in the future. The full list of active MapAlerter local authorities is always available and up to date on the MapAlerter website.
