A loose translation into English would be 'spiritual dwelling' or, more loosely, 'sanctuary'. Rendering a precise literal translation into English is problematic due to the vast and conceptually rich semantic field of the word dharma and the cultural aspect of India.

Dharamshala is a beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by pine tree forest. It is a hill station with great varities in altitudes and temperature, making it a hot favorite for many visitors. Triund , Dal lake, Bhagsu waterfall, Satobari, Chamunda devi temple, Dalai lama temple etc. are the very famous visitors places here.
