Kailasagiri Hill Murugan Kovil & Temple

Kailasagiri Arulmigu Subramani Swamy thirukovil is situated on top of the Kailasagiri Hill near Kedambur in Vaniyambadi taluk, is an old and ancient temple in Vellore District. It is located at 7 Kms from Ambur railway station. According to legends and epics Kailasagiri Hill is one of the most ancient and scared hills and it is enriched with abundant herbal values. Once the presiding deity here was Lord Shiva. Later on, Lord Muruga become presiding deity of this hill in an all-encompassing love for his devotees with two consorts “Valli and Devanai“.

His other namas (names) are Subrahmanya, Shanmukha, Kaartikeya, Skanda, Kumara, Devasenapati, Saravanabhava, Guha, Swaminathan, etc. Kartikeya also known as Kartik, Kartika or Kartik Thakur, is also worshipped in West Bengal, and Bangladesh on the last day of the Hindu month of Kartik. He is the Lord of male-fertility and good harvest. He is portrayed as a handsome with bow and arrow in hand. Kartikeya is primarily worshiped among those who intend to have a son.

How to get to Kailasagiri Hills?

Nearest Airport : Chennai (185 kms) and Bangalore (190 kms).

Nearest Railway Station : Ambur, Katpadi Junction and Jolarpet Junction by rail (Train).

By Road: There are several state-run buses from Chennai, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Bangalore, Salem and get down at Ambur.

Local Transport: Auto rickshaws without meter, Buses and Taxies are available for local transportation from Ambur to Kedambur (9 Kms).

Road Direction to get to Kailasagiri Hills?

If you are coming from Chennai then you have reach Ambur via Poondamalli-Ranipet-Vellore-Ambur. Then at Ambur you have to right turn to reach ‘Bye-pass’ Road (Land mark Rajiv Gandhi Statue Signal) and you have to travel 7 km’s in Ambur – Peranambut Road. Before Oomarabad Police station you have to turn left to reach Kailasagiri ghat road. You can also find route by clicking the map image below.
