IM-Punjabi is a instant messenger app with punjabi flavour. It is focused on punjabi demographic (east-west Punjab and punjabis living all over the world).

What you will be able to use it for, as a user:

* Exchange text messages in Gurmukhi script - even when you are offline.

* Share pictures and web-links

* Chat in public forums

* 1 to 1 conversations with friends and family

* It can operate using both wifi and/or mobile network

IM-Punjabi has a colourful and simplified interface. You type in your message using a full-fledged Gurmukhi keyboard that also provides emoticons :).

No need to create a new account or to remember a new password or even to share your phone number with us. Just use either your Facebook or Google+ account to login.

Why a punjabi messenger app?

Experiments have shown that for any individual, his/her native language is the best and fastest mean to express his/her thoughts. Native language or mother-tongue helps a person in many ways including developing his/her personality + psyche. It gives them a feeling of self-respect. It establishes their individuality among other groups. It helps them to relate to their culture and better understand their own history. It allows them to concentrate more on the idea they want to share rather than the presentation itself using some alien language.

For past few months we have tested this app with small groups of different demographics. It has shown us that even if two individuals are unknown to each other they tend to develop a sense of relationship between each other only because they share same native language.

We are happy to share this app now with wider audience. You are welcome to try it, chat and make new friends.
