This app is brought to you by Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City of Los Angeles, and built on the ShakeAlert system developed by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Last updated on Feb 18, 2020

This update notifies ShakeAlertLA users who may experience shaking from earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater within Los Angeles County. This was previously magnitude 5.0 or greater. Event time now displays in Pacific Standard/Daylight Time. Interruption (do not disturb) setting options allow users to be notified of an event when on silent mode. An explanation is provided on how location data is being used. And, a link to a demo of what an alert will look and sound like is provided.
