Do you enjoy your JOB?

The world is full of people who dislike their jobs. Many of them are managers, business men, teachers, professors, lawyers, doctors, and even religious leaders. These people hate getting out of bed to go to work every morning. They constantly complain about their jobs, they complain about the weather, they whine about their bosses, their salaries, the working hours, their co-workers, they grumble about the working environment and the list is endless. They spend their working day watching the clock, counting the hours and wishing the day would end quickly.

When they go to bed the story isn’t any way better because they spend their nights dreading the following working day. Before they catch any sleep and get some rest, the night is over because a better part of it was spent worrying. When the morning comes, it is not greeted with enthusiasm and radiance but with ‘cursing’ and sluggishness which spills over to their work place. These people are fatigued. They're grouchy. They're anxious. They're angry. They're bored. They are bitter and constantly whine about almost everything. They don't eat well. They don't sleep well. They don't feel well. They live primarily for weekends and public holidays. Their jobs are slowly burying them in a grave of hidden discontent and frustration. They lack vigour and luster while performing their duties.

I love to think of an athlete (Kenya is known globally for winning long distance races) who knows it will take every ounce of his energy to emerge a winner. But this doesn’t dampen his ambition. He relishes the challenge. He competes not just for the trophy and several million shillings at the end of the race, but for the love of the game. I love to think of a teacher faced with a room full of skeptical, stubborn and sneering students with a challenge of opening a door of knowledge to them. And because he loves his profession it drives him to deliver outstanding results. I love to think of a leader staring at an organization with morale challenges and resources limitations yet he rallies everyone toward a common goal to achieve incredible success. I love to think of a gardener who has an exquisite taste that makes him creative; an accountant that is passionate about figures; a dexterous mechanic whose hallmark is honesty; a doctor that is on call not as a duty but because he loves his job. DO YOU LOVE YOUR JOB
