The Kunsthalle Tropical is located in the north of Iceland, in the rocky desert at the foot of the Highlands. Different actors may activate the art institution by investigating and developing ephemeral or intangible exhibition formats. This may be upon invitation or spontaneously.

The Kunsthalle Tropical is located at a specific place, however, unfolds as well in a mental space:

it serves the imagination and is serviced by the imagination.

The Kunsthalle Tropical is(n’t) a program, their collection is ephemeral in the long term.
