About Geode

Geode — mineral guide, identification, properties and Mohs hardness scale

Geode is an offline mineral reference designed for exploring mineral species, studying their properties, identifying specimens, comparing characteristics, and learning how the Mohs hardness scale works. The app brings a structured mineral catalog, detailed reference cards, identification tools, filters, and practical comparison features together in one convenient mobile interface.

The catalog contains 32 mineral species available directly on your device. Browse the complete collection without requiring a constant internet connection and quickly move between individual entries. Minerals are presented as organized cards with names, illustrations, and key information, making the catalog useful for both quick reference and more detailed study.

Each mineral in Geode has its own profile with important identification characteristics. Review hardness, streak, luster, color, crystal information, and other available properties. Details are separated into clear sections so you can quickly find the information you need without searching through long blocks of text.

The catalog includes search, filtering, and comparison tools for navigating the collection. Search for a mineral by name or narrow the displayed results using available characteristics. This makes it easier to focus on specific groups and quickly return to minerals you want to examine in more detail.

A dedicated identification feature helps narrow down possible minerals using visible characteristics and other clues. Select available properties such as color and additional identifying features, then review matching entries from the catalog. The results provide a practical starting point when examining an unfamiliar specimen.

Geode also provides detailed information about individual mineral properties. Learn how hardness differs between species, compare streak and luster, examine characteristic colors, and review additional facts associated with each catalog entry. Structured information panels keep related characteristics together for easier comparison.

The built-in Mohs scale provides a convenient reference for mineral hardness. Explore different positions on the scale and see representative minerals associated with individual hardness values. An interactive control makes it easy to move through the scale and compare softer and harder specimens.

The Mohs reference can also be used alongside individual mineral profiles. When viewing a mineral, its hardness information can be compared with familiar reference minerals, providing additional context beyond a single numerical value.

The home screen acts as a compact mineral bench. It provides an overview of your current activity and quick access to major sections of the app. Recently explored information and available tools are organized into clear cards so you can continue browsing with minimal navigation.

The interface is designed for convenient reference on a mobile device. Dark backgrounds, illustrated mineral models, compact property panels, search controls, and clearly separated sections help keep detailed information readable and organized.
