About Geisha Wallpapers

English

4K, HD, HQ geisha wallpapers, vertical backgrounds

Geisha is the name given to women who have accompanied male customers with songs, dances, conversations, and games in the entertainment life in Japan since the 17th century. The Geisha world is called Hana-machi or Ka-Ryu-kai in Japanese.

The name Geisha is used in the Kanto region, especially in Tokyo, and the name Geyko is used in the Kansai region, especially in Osaka and Kyoto, and in the regions under the influence of that culture (for example, Yamagata and Ishikawa). After the Meiji period, the name Geygi began to be used in official areas. Novices are called Hangyoku in Kanto and Maiko in Kansai.

The number of geisha, which was 80,000 in the early 1920s, dropped to 10,000 by the end of the 1980s. The most important reason for this is that western-style bars and women working here are more popular.

Towards the end of the Edo Period, geishas began to be invited to many social and political events and gatherings, including official meetings. In time, they took on the titles of entertainers-artists or entertainers. Geisha entertainment today is one of the most expensive entertainments in Japan.

Unlike other women working in the Japanese entertainment world, geishas can maintain their profession for life. To be a good geisha, traits such as a talent for fine arts and music, soft language, and good hospitality are more important than beauty and youth. Therefore, it is possible to continue geisha in old age. Geisha who leave the profession often do jobs related to their previous jobs, such as running a bar or restaurant. Some geishas marry their clients and quit their jobs.

In the traditional geisha profession, each geisha has a Danna, or protector, with whom she is emotionally, sexually, and economically related. Today, however, it is up to the geisha to have a guardian or not.

The rules in geisha houses today are not very strict. It has become possible to make a living with only the tips and gifts received from customers. Therefore, the number of employees who are completely dependent on the geisha house is decreasing.

Traditional geisha has completely disappeared in Tokyo today and is gradually decreasing in Kyoto. By law, everyone in Japan is required to have primary and secondary education. In other words, geisha education can start at the age of 15 at the earliest, which used to be when a geisha transitioned from being a maiko to becoming a geisha. Therefore, the rules and practices in geisha houses have changed compared to the past and have become compatible with modern society, moral rules, and laws.

Please choose your desired geisha wallpaper and set it as a lock screen or home screen to give your phone an outstanding appearance.
