On the foreign, lush world of Pandora live the Na'vi, creatures that appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is toxic, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must connect with human minds in order to move freely on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paraplegic former Marine, becomes mobile again through one of these Avatars and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As his bond with her grows, he is drawn into the battle for the survival of his world.
