This app provides acoustic feedback detection and audio analysis for live sound and studio environments. Unlike many other tools, it can automatically detect and store the estimated feedback frequency, making it ideal for live sound mixing in acoustically difficult environments, room tuning, and acoustic measurements.
The app processes audio by creating a normalized power spectrum between 20 Hz and 20 kHz for each windowed block. From this, it identifies up to three frequency peaks using a weighted evaluation of peak height and prominence. In signal processing, the prominence of a peak indicates how much it stands out from its surroundings. The app calculates a “contrast” value, describing the ratio between the highest-rated peak and the mean of the weighted evaluation across the entire third-octave–filtered audio block. If this contrast exceeds the user-defined feedback threshold and remains above it for the specified attack time, the app triggers a feedback warning and logs the estimated feedback frequency, the three detected peak frequencies, and the musical tone corresponding to the first peak. All feedback events are stored with timestamps and can be downloaded from the system’s download directory for further analysis.
