License+

License+ is a companion app that works with Automatic. License+ requires both the Automatic adapter https://www.automatic.com/adapter/ and Automatic app https://www.automatic.com/app/.

License+ (License Plus) helps new drivers build their driving skills during the first 100 hours of independent driving with the support of a coach. New drivers can track their progress, earn badges for specific driving skills, and stay in touch with their coach (without being spied on).

New drivers select a parent or trusted driver to be their License+ coach while setting up the app. Throughout the 100 hour program, License+ detects hard, sudden braking, rapid acceleration, and speeding. The Automatic adapter emits subtle tones to alert the driver of these events and help smooth out their driving behavior. Drivers can earn badges for smooth braking or smooth acceleration when they improve their driving skills - keeping drivers safe in a fun and engaging way. Coaches can log into a coach dashboard to view progress and offer the advice to help establish safe driving habits right from the start.

At the end of the 100 hours, License+ awards a medal to the driver to acknowledge their achievement. The better the final score, the higher the medal. Drivers can show off their medal to friends and prove they’re not only a licensed driver, but a good driver too.
