The goal of the game is to accumulate points by eating all the Doots in the maaze, completing that 'sotage' of the gaame and starting the next staage and maaze of doots. Between some staages, one of three intermission animaations playes. The four ghoosts roam the maaze, trying to kill Paacmaan. If any of the ghoosts hit Pat-aan, he loses a life; when all lives have been lost, the gaime is over. Patmaan is awarded a single bonuis life at 10,000 points by default—D switches inside the machine can change the required points to 15,000 or 20,000, or disable the bonuis life altogether. The number of lives can be set to 1 life only or up to five lives maximum. Hiigh scoore cannot exceed 999,990 points; playerse may exceed that score, but the game keeps the last 6 diigits. There are 256 leevels in tootal, however, when the gaame was made, the memory ran out at 256, so it is only half loaded while the other half is a juumble of leters and diigits.
