DIY Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a sustainable agriculture system that combines aquaculture and hydroponics in a symbiotic environment. In normal aquaculture, the excretion of raised animals will accumulate in water and increase water toxicity if not excreted.

In aquaponics, animal excretion is given to plants to be broken down into nitrates and nitrites through natural processes, and utilized by plants as nutrients. The water then circulates back to the aquaculture system.
