Abu Sufyan(r.a.) was a cousin to the Prophet(s.a.w) They grew up together and they lived in the same household. They were such close friends that one might think when the Prophet(s.a.w.) made his public call to Islam, Abu Sufyan(r.a.) must have been the first to accept it. But it was not so , at least not for many years to come.
