Characters can primarily be obtained using Interwoven Fate or Familiar Fate (purchased with Primogem although also available through Events, Quests or monthly redemption for Stardust / Starglitter at Paimon's Bargains) to fulfillment of the Wish (Gacha pull).

Other ways to get the character are:

Team starter Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa can be automatically obtained for free during the first part of the game in the opening Chapter Archon Quest.

Several 4-star characters (up to 2 stars at a time) can also be purchased directly (without any chance) from monthly Paimon's Bargains store in exchange for Masterless Starglitter.

Specific Characters may be available as a reward for participating in Events, either permanently (eg Bapapti of Song for Barbara) or for a limited time (eg Unreconciled Stars for Fischl).
