Live Mandelbox is a live wallpaper that renders a 3D view of the Mandelbox fractal that rotates in the background when swiped. Rendering features:
- Distance field raymarching
- Object space ambient occlusion
- Blinn-Phong lighting
- Soft shadows based on distance field
- Coloration from iteration point's orbit
Render time is about 5 minutes on 2-core CPU. If GPU acceleration for FilterScript ever materializes, the render time will probably shorten to a few seconds.
The application is open source and is maintained at http://github.com/alankila/live-mandelbox/
