PAW Patrol Pups Take Flight is a fun flying game app featuring everyone’s favourite pup friends. Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Skye and Zuma all feature in this new release that is super engaging for kids aged 4 + years.

Jump on board the air patroller and then take to the skies for one of three exciting missions. Kids choose which pup they want as their mission buddy and then they hit the skies collecting pup treats and their mission object while avoiding obstacles along the way.

The Good Bits

This game is engaging with a capital E. Despite my four-year-old not being a particularly huge PAW Patrol fan, (he actually said, “I don’t like PAW Patrol”), he quickly became obsessed with this game! I think this is due to the fairly simple and repetitive actions that are all done within each mission.

The game mechanic is endearingly retro where kids just use their fingers to steer their preferred pup to collide with objects in order to collect them. The ease of control makes it easy for even the littlest fingers to make their pup go where they want them to go.

At first my little guy struggled to avoid obstacles while flying with his pup, I really like that these ‘mistakes’ while navigating were met with encouraging audio saying things like, “uh oh” and “whoops” rather than any full-on negativity.

The Not So Good Bits

As a parent spectator, the repetition within the game can get a little boring. All of the missions are very similar, and the music is the same across all of them. However, that being said, this repetition is probably what makes the game so engaging for kids. Turn the sound down low and everyone is happy!

What It Teaches

The game’s educational content focuses around basic mathematics skills. Teaching simple counting and number recognition, it also introduces kids to a variety of shapes, like triangles, rhombuses and parallelograms, which they have to trace with their fingers in each mission. While this is embedded within the game, it’s a pretty small part of it. This game is more about being a game, than any really intense educational focus.
