AssembleIt! is a crowdsourcing bioinformatics game that anyone can play for fun while contributing to the advancement of science. The game is designed in such a way that it is purely entertaining but is performing some genome assembly behind the scene. The goal of AssembleIt! is to examine if human pattern recognition could potentially improve the quality of assemblies on current incomplete 'draft' genomes.
- Prior knowledge on DNA structure, genome assemblies, and other bioinformatics skills is not necessary.
- Available in four operating systems: Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android.
AssembleIt! is funded (2014-2016) by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Department of Defense and developed at the Genomics and Bioinformatics Department of the Naval Medical Research Center.
