CAVERS

CAVERS is a 2D pixel art platformer that combines exploration, action, and challenge in an underground world divided into three large zones, each with its own visual identity, creatures, and dangers. The player takes on the role of an explorer who descends deeper and deeper into mysterious caves, facing unique enemies, collecting energy, and discovering secrets lost underground.

The journey begins in the Dirit Zone, close to the surface. This is a compact earthen environment in shades of brown, where everything seems simple… until spectral creatures and unstable elements appear. Here, the player learns to master jumps, defeat enemies by stomping on them, and interact with solid platforms, energy blocks, and mysterious portals. The aesthetic is warm and welcoming, but hides dangers that quickly increase the challenge.

As the player progresses, they encounter the Radioactive Zone, a hostile area illuminated by bright green hues, filled with corroded walls and toxic pools. Mutant creatures—like radioactive cockroaches—patrol these unstable caves. Toxic barrels, fluorescent platforms, and energized obstacles demand precise movements. It's a zone that blends poison, traps, and vibrant visuals, highlighting the constant danger.

Further down lies the Magmatic Zone, an extreme territory of incandescent rocks, lava lakes, and structures trembling from the heat. Magma golems and flaming bats watch over the environment, while molten platforms, lava lasers, and fiery portals require the player to have absolute precision. It's the most intense, aggressive, and epic part of the adventure.

Throughout the progression, the player unlocks new levels through stylized menus, with unique buttons per zone, custom backgrounds, and energy indicators. Weapons—like the starting sword—and special items, such as energy cubes and cannons, make each level more strategic and dynamic.

Each area was created to combine gameplay, narrative, and visual style: detailed pixel art, strong colors, thematic creatures, and intuitive mechanics. The game blends classic simplicity with a deep and immersive atmosphere.

CAVERS offers an underground adventure full of atmosphere, danger, and mystery — where each descent is a new story and each zone a new world.
