Since the founding of Mackenzie in 1870, Reverend George Whitehil and his wife, educator Mary Annesley Chamberlain, have been hallmarks of the Mackenzie spirit bringing out the Christian confessional reformed character that defines the institutional identity of Mackenzie and its Lifetime Associate, the Presbyterian Church from Brazil.

Mackenzie's mission is to educate and care for the human being created in the image of God for the full exercise of citizenship in an environment of Reformed Christian faith.

In January 1975, the Mackenzie Presbyterian University Chaplaincy service was officially established and, from then onwards, has been expanded following the growth of Mackenzie, reaching the form and structure with institutional, educational, university and hospital chaplains to better serve to the Mackenzita community in all education and health units.

Chaplains and Chaplaincy Assistants serve these diverse segments of Mackenzits with full support to anyone, respecting their opinions and religious affiliations.

In order to serve and welcome everyone, the Mackenzie Chancellery and its Chaplaincies work in person at the Chapel and promote events in all units, as well as in the Mackenzie Chaplaincy's virtual environments, official channels and application.
