Brams Keyboard

A keyboard that makes you want to type.

Brams is an Android keyboard inspired by 1960s German industrial design: few colors, simple shapes and every detail in service of function. The keys have depth, sink when you tap them and sound like a real mechanical keyboard.

And one rule always holds: what you type never leaves your phone. Brams only uses the internet when you tap Download on a language or Check for language updates, and only to download.

MECHANICAL KEYBOARD SOUNDS

14 sounds, many recorded from real keyboards: Mechanical, Magnetic, Aluminum, Cushioned, Springy and more. Space, Enter and Delete have their own sound. Adjustable vibration, with its own strength for the space bar.

72 LANGUAGES, AUTOCORRECT AND SUGGESTIONS ON YOUR PHONE

From Portuguese, English and Spanish to Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Greek, Hebrew and Thai.

• Your phone's languages come with the app; download the others in Settings (up to 20 MB each). Once downloaded, they work offline, even in airplane mode

• Several languages at once, no switching

• Dedicated Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Thai, Arabic-script and Indian (InScript) keyboards; Telex for Vietnamese

• Japanese with kanji conversion, Simplified (pinyin) and Traditional (zhuyin) Chinese, and Korean, all on your phone. The language list is updated when you tap Check for language updates

• Fixes typos and missing accents, and never learns its own mistakes

• Completes the word, predicts the next one from the sentence and remembers the emails you use

• Swipe across the letters to type

TRANSLATION WITHOUT LEAVING THE KEYBOARD

Translate what you write into and from 57 languages. Translation happens right on your phone. Each translation language is downloaded in Settings when you want it (about 50 MB); after that, it works offline.

VOICE TYPING, OFFLINE

Tap the microphone and talk. Your speech becomes text right on your phone. Brams only listens while the voice panel is open, and the audio is never saved or sent anywhere.

EVERYDAY TOOLS

• Emoji with search by word or phrase, your choice of size and suggestions as you type

• Clipboard with text and images, pinned items and your choice of how long to keep them

• Hold the space bar to move the cursor like a trackpad

• A toolbar your way, including Switch keyboard

• Text shortcuts and typing statistics with a weekly summary

• Back up your settings and words to a file you keep, password-protected if you want, saved wherever you choose (even Google Drive)

REAL PRIVACY

• No tracking and no data collection: no ads, no analytics, no account

• Brams never sends anything you type, say or copy. The keyboard has no internet code

• Internet only to download: language files come from the Brams server when you tap Download in Settings, each one verified, with no account, cookies or identifiers

• Incognito mode, and no suggestions or learning in password fields

• Optional Brams Blueprint app: on your phone, Brams gives it only your total key count and Brams Points balance when you deposit, and your keyboard layout when you create a theme.
