Spotter is an initiative that helps citizens quickly & efficiently report issues

Spotter is a B.PAC initiative that can help citizens (in Bangalore) quickly and efficiently report issues

and concerns in their neighbourhood. Citizens can file their observations, grievances and suggestions

for action by various govt. and municipal departments.

The Spotter solution comprises of a Smartphone App that facilitates quick capture of the picture and

forwarding it to us. A back-end team will work towards reaching the complaints to respective Govt.

departments.

Spotter is a crowd-sourcing initiative to gather crucial information about various aspects of safety,

traffic, cleanliness, mobility etc. and prevail upon the Civic agencies to change.

What is different here?

Typically many varieties of social Apps have been developed and shared by genuine and enthusiastic

social minded people. The App user is encouraged to send civic related issues, concerns and

complaints in a defined process and the data thus obtained is forwarded to the respective civic

agency which is responsible to attend to the problem. But despite several Apps facilitating such

social activity and forwarding the complaints to civic agencies, the result is hardly noticeable.

Garbage continues to be thrown all over, footpaths are damaged and uneven as before and

drainages are left open despite several serious accidents, women feel even more un-safe than

before and much more.

B.PAC intends to take a different approach here. Over and above following the process of reaching

the complaints to the respective civic agencies, there are two important actions that we will take up:

1. An additional set of workforce from our own B.CLIP program will be requested to actually

take up complaints received through Spotter, that fall in their respective wards, and follow-

up with local civic agencies to close them to the best situation as possible.

2. B.PAC management will use the large amount of complaints received in particular areas on

specific issues like waste management, roads, footpath, crime and safety etc. and prevail

upon the top level executives of the civic agency to provide a permanent and long term

solution. And if situation requires, they will even approach the top Govt. Ministers to

personally look into the issues and resolve them.

The idea is to come up with permanent solutions to many irritating and safety related problems and

make Bengaluru a better place to live in. Through crowd sourcing we expect to get large number of

complaints which then can be effectively used to drive solutions. As such, please do not necessarily

look for instant solutions to individual complaints but help B.PAC to go to the root cause of the

problem by feeding the complaints in large numbers and on a regular basis. Happy Spotting to All!
