## Overview

**Blockz** is an engaging spatial reasoning puzzle game that challenges players to fill uniquely-shaped game boards with colorful polyomino pieces using intuitive drag-and-drop controls. Built with Flutter for cross-platform compatibility, Blockz combines the classic appeal of block-fitting puzzles with modern mobile gameplay mechanics, offering both quick casual sessions and deep strategic challenges.

## Core Gameplay

The objective is simple yet satisfying: fill every playable cell on custom-shaped boards using a collection of geometric pieces. Boards range from compact 8x8 grids to sprawling 14x14 layouts, featuring irregular shapes with custom borders that create unique puzzle configurations. Each level presents a different spatial challenge requiring careful planning and creative problem-solving.

## Intuitive Controls

**Drag and Drop**: Touch and drag pieces from the bottom collection onto the board. A semi-transparent ghost preview shows exactly where the piece will land, providing real-time feedback without obscuring the grid.

**Tap to Transform**: Tapping any piece cycles through all rotations and mirror reflections instantly, eliminating UI clutter while making piece manipulation feel natural and immediate.

## Two Game Modes

**Pile Mode - The Perfect Puzzle**: Use every provided piece to achieve exact board coverage. These carefully crafted puzzles guarantee a perfect solution where every piece has its place. A horizontal scrollable pile displays all available pieces, and the "Clear board to pile" button facilitates quick strategy iteration.

**Tray Mode - Creative Freedom**: More flexible gameplay where players can leave pieces unused if they achieve full board coverage without them. Pieces appear in a wrapped tray layout, encouraging experimentation without the pressure of exact-cover constraints.

## Progressive Challenge

Seven handcrafted levels provide graduated difficulty from tutorial basics to expert challenges. Early levels use simple rectangular boards to teach mechanics, while advanced levels feature intricate custom shapes, larger grids, and complex piece collections requiring sophisticated spatial reasoning. Each level includes a unique name, description, and carefully balanced piece selection.

## Comprehensive Statistics

Track your progress with detailed per-level statistics including moves count, filled cells, completion time (formatted as hours/minutes/seconds), and pile/tray piece count during gameplay. Historical achievements are preserved across sessions, showing best moves, fastest time, total completions, and recent attempts. Access your Personal Best statistics anytime via the trophy icon in the game screen, displayed in an elegant dialog with color-coded stat chips.

The separate Statistics screen provides a comprehensive overview of progress across all levels, including top runs with both move counts and completion times.

The responsive breakpoint system ensures excellent experience across devices: very small screens (< 500px) get ultra-compact layouts, standard phones (< 650px) receive balanced sizing, large phones/small tablets (650-850px) get expanded layouts, and tablets/desktop (> 850px) maximize space utilization.

The "How to Play" tutorial appears on first launch, comprehensively explaining goals, controls, and strategies. It remains accessible via the info icon in the level select screen.
