Intelligence, Technology, Innovation, Citizen Participation and Engagement, Humanization, those are some of the key words of Smart Travel’s II International Congress that is schedule to take place from December 4th to 5th in Bragança.

Experts from all over the world will come to this low density populated area, showing ways, share ideas and solutions, reveal experiences and successful cases to construct a more sustainable future, prosperous and better planed, determined by citizens’ needs.

Smart Travel 2015 will, once more, surprise us.

Relying on a rigorous selection of worldwide experts, various areas of knowledge, different action fields of planning and marketing strategy will be featured.

WHERE

The city of Bragança it’s on TOP 4 of Portuguese’s intelligent cities. With Smart Travel’s help, Bragança will prove that depopulation and interiority are not synonymous of stagnation.

Opposing to all the ideas that regions with low density population have a development deficit, Bragança has managed to stand out in Portugal, being one of the 4 Most Intelligent Cities in the country, through the policies it has been implementing and through the strategic development it has set out and for the projects already under way and those in development.

When it comes to the environment, construction, mobility, preservation of nature, social support, art, culture and also in the areas of information and promoting knowledge, Bragança wants to and is giving the example. It is showing that it has a well-defined route to continue along the path of training the area and its citizens, boosting the local economy and, consequently, job creation, and promoting cultural and leisure activities that make the lives of its residents happier and more fulfilled.

Within the scope of the Smart Travel concept, this event intends to be a meeting point for Smart Destinations and its associates, mayors, administrators, managers, cities, hotels and guesthouses, together with technology and innovation companies that are confronted on a day-to-day basis with the need to present distinctive solutions that are capable of making the area and its stakeholders more competitive and sustainable.

Besides the scientific component, this conference is an emotional opportunity. The experiences the Northeast of Portugal provides its visitors with are unique and unrepeatable, generating enthusiasm and even great passions.

The Northeast of Portugal has nature, heritage, culture and tradition, museums and art galleries, theatres and spas. It has excellent gastronomy, wines from Douro and Trás-os-Montes, high quality accommodation and originality in everything it does, as well as everything that it is.

Smart Travel wants to involve the world around a global problem: the high level of population concentration on big cities and rural depopulation.

This question will be the main theme of this forum but will be much more. We must discuss how technology can assist managing migration flows or how innovation and creativity can retain more people and increase employment. Also, how the implementation of participatory political structures can help to improve the quality of life of the citizens and the governmental action of public office holders.
