PMI New Zealand invites all current and aspiring project managers, leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians, students and anyone with an active interest in project management to mark the 10-12 September, 2013 in their calendar for the 19th PMINZ Conference at Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland.

The PMINZ conference is a platform for professionals to gather together and share knowledge, experience and professional camaraderie, and recognise professional excellence via the PMINZ 5thAnnual Awards.

The Conference theme is:

Reality in a Diverse World

Sinking – Surviving - Succeeding

The real deal: project management in reality. Being realistic and honest with regard to what it is really like delivering projects -- warts and all. No sanitised descriptions with spin; rather we want the true picture. This takes some courage but ultimately is of great value. Grit not gloss.

A diverse world: a global situation. Issues relating to cultural diversity, managing personality or working style differences, the global financial crisis, the need to deliver more for less (to remain globally competitive) and the impact of changing demographics. How to embrace diversity. What does it mean for our profession and practice? What are the challenges, the pitfalls, and how to reap the benefits?

Learning from lessons learned: sharing bad experiences alongside good ones, so that others can learn. Building knowledge in project management best practice through really learning lessons learned. Moving from paying lip service to learning lessons by being open with the hard issues, even when they hurt deeply (sinking). Often, just getting by is the reality of where we are (surviving). Sometimes, we achieve a ‘kind-of-magic’ or ‘breakthrough’ which we can share with others for benefit of the profession and wider society (succeeding). We wish to celebrate such success.
