Pearls of Wisdom from the Gulf and the Globe

This App edition of "Pearls of Wisdom from the Gulf and the Globe” by author Nayef Omar Alkalali represents his compendium of the Arabian Gulf’s most commonly used proverbs. The author has researched, compiled, transliterated, translated the entries from Arabic to English and compared them with global equivalent forms in ready English translation from different sources as detailed in the original book. There are 1001 proverbs indexed according to 100 themes. It should be noted that most of the proverbs fall into more than one theme. Many themes included the antithesis of the subject e.g. Strength and Weakness, Content and Discontent, Assistance and Hindrance, etc. The sequence of themes was arranged in alphabetical order, and so was the sequence of proverbs in their Arabic original script. The App as in the book contains a number of illustrative cartoons by Bahraini artist Yusra Howaida. The first volume was released in 2007 and the second in 2011.
