Romania owns the widest old growth forest area in Europe: timber lands more than 300 years old, naturally created, with no human interference, displaying great biodiversity, pristine soil and various tree species.

This is The Secular Land. Unfortunately, it’s constantly in great danger due to abusive woodcutting. To protect it, Greenpeace has created Forest Guardians – the old growth forest monitoring app.

Forest Guardians helps you actively fight to protect the forest, especially the virgin areas in The Secular Land. The features provided by Forest Guardians allow you to:

• monitor and announce any changes in the canopy of the Romanian old growth, by comparing satellite images taken in various moments;

• report suspicious woodcutting to authorities, right on spot;

• check the legality of any wood carriage, by verifying the registration plates of the vehicle.
