Video player with audiodescription performed with synthesized voice

The sociocultural inclusion of people with disabilities still requires a lot of research effort and awareness of their importance. Thus, this application initiates a discussion about the theme of the promotion of access to video productions through the use of virtual audio description, which presents itself as an economically viable, efficient and simple solution, compared to traditional audiodescription, which besides having a longer production time, will hardly see most of the titles released over more than a decade.

However, it should be noted that virtual audio description should not be seen as a substitute for traditional types, but as a complementary alternative to increase the socio-cultural inclusion of a part of the population that is often overlooked.

The main objective is to facilitate contextual understanding for the visually impaired when there are no dialogues between the characters in the scene or have visual information without audio feedback, similar to what happens in traditional audiodescription.

For this, a video player, ADVPlayer, was developed in this project, which combines and synchronizes a text file containing scene descriptions with voice synthesis. In addition, it has as a differential the option of choosing the type of synthesized voice that most pleases, and the user can count on the support of virtual communities to describe the most varied titles, making them quickly accessible and adapting them to Federal Decree No. 5,296 , of December 2, 2004.
