ABCs alphabet or is a form of writing classified as "segmental" because it has graphemes that represent phonemes (basic unit of sound) of a language may also be classified as a phonetic writing, as it seeks to represent the phonemes for a particular sign.

The alphabet in use in the English language is the Latin alphabet, which uses 26 letters:
