In general, this App provides two kinds of search modes for your convenience in exploring Wikipedia.
First, the “Walkie-Talkie" mode: just simply press the "walkie-talkie" button and speak, and your speech will be recognized by a voice recognition engine (e.g. Google Voice Recognition service) and used for searching Wikipedia article(s). After checking the entries live on Wikipedia, the abstract of the found article will be displayed on the "Talkie" screen.
Second, the traditional search mode: type in the queries with more accurate search terms to retrieve Wikipedia article(s) you desire.
Either way with this tool, you will find the experience of knowledge discovery could not be more enjoyable. Plus, you can let “Wikie Talkie" read the abstract of Wikipedia article for you by using the Text To Speech technology.
Please note, the supported voice recognition languages are listed as follows:
* Pig Latin
Also, as not all Android devices come with a voice recognition engine installed, you might need to install one (e.g. Google Voice Search) manually. If you would like to have Wikie Talkie to read the articles for you, you will need to install a Text To Speech engine and corresponding synthesis data too.
