In addition to visually sharing device locations, you can also create shared map markers or waypoints for the benefit of all your tribe members and securely message individuals or everyone in their tribe. All transmitted and received user data is encrypted while travelling via a secure socket.
Tribe lets you select from a variety of open source map styles tailored to various activities such as driving, cycling and hiking. Try an aerial view, or switch to something more specific like a cyclemap or a topographic map.
You can also have multiple accounts per device, each tied to the email address used during registration, so that you can use a specific account for a specific activity or group of people. For instance, you could have distinct accounts for your family tribe, your work tribe and your cycling tribe. This gives you more control over what data is shared between the users with whom you interact.

More about data usage:
In order to respect the users privacy as much as possible while delivering the desired features, the app stores only the most recently received location from the device. There are no records of tracks or logs of locations visited. Similarly, message chains are trimmed to the most recently replied to text, so that there is no message history beyond the immediate text one is replying to. We don't share your email with anyone. Your email is used as a unique key to your Tribe account, for interacting with users of Tribe, and to let the user send messages.
If the user wishes to mark historical positions and save them, map markers can be easily added by tapping the screen. The markers will remain until someone in the tribe deletes them.
Explanation of subscription cost: Split between app developers, contributions to open source software projects, and the maintenance of operating costs incurred by this app.
Please note that this app requires an internet connection to function properly and, depending on your service provider and data plan, may cause service provider data transfer charges to be incurred.
